Mitsubishi vs. the Mountain: Pikes Peak 2013

Mitsubishi fields a pair of MiEV Evolution II electric racers to challenge the mountain in the 91st running of the Pikes Peak International Hillclimb competition. Drivers Greg Tracy and Hiroshi Masuoka attempt both a class and overall win versus rally legend Sebastian Loeb, last year's winner Rhys Millen, local favorite Paul Dallenbach and hillclimb pioneer Nobuhiro "Monster" Tajima.

Pikes Peak 2013 Electric Preview

Running a pair of MiEV Evolution II Electric race cars, Mitsubishi drivers Hiroshi Masuoka and Greg Tracy are looking for no less than a class win at this year's Pikes Peak International Hillclimb in Colorado Springs, Colorado. These aren't anything like the electrics you see on the city streets, these are the ultimate in high-torque high-tech. Both cars are powered by no less than four electric motors putting out 533 effective horsepower. Competition is on Sunday, June 30. Other noted competitors include hillclimb legends Nobuhiro "Monster" Tajima, as well as Rod (Electric) and Rhys (Unlimited) Millen. This year also sees Peugeot returning to The Peak, with an Unlimited class gas-powered car driven by WRC Champion Sebastian Loeb.

In this episode, David Higgins and Subaru Rally Team USA are on the west coast for the Oregon Trail Rally, while Bucky Lasek, Dave Mirra, Sverre Isachsen and the Subaru PUMA Rallycross Team are hard at work in Connecticut testing the new cars in preparation for the first overseas event.

David Higgins and Craig Drew of Subaru Rally Team USA may be back-to-back champions, but at the Rally in the 100 Acre Wood, Ken Block has been king. A win here at round two for Higgins would rock the boat and shake things up for the rest of the series. But, an overnight storm in Missouri has dumped snow on the high-speed stages, placing the whole outcome into question. Can the teams keep it on the road in the treacherous conditions?
